Slovenia are set to play Serbia at the Stožice Sports Park on Sunday in the UEFA Nations League.
Slovenia come into this game on the back of a 0-0 draw against Stale Solbakken’s Norway recently. Slovenia had Angers centre-back Miha Blazic sent off in the second-half.
Serbia, on the other hand, beat Janne Andersson’s Sweden 1-0 in their most recent game. A goal from Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic was enough to seal the deal for Dragan Stojkovic’s Serbia.
Slovenia Current Form and Key Players
Slovenia picked up a win over Armenia and a draw with Bulgaria in their final two warm-up matches before the tournament gets underway. That means that they’ve lost just one game in their last 12 in all competitions, although worryingly that did come against a Denmark team that they will meet in their final match of the groups.
Captain and goalkeeper Jan Oblak is the poster boy of the team. The Atletico Madrid man has made 65 appearances and is the most recognisable name in the squad alongside young striker Benjamin Sesko, who has enjoyed a fine season with RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga, racking up 14 goals in 17 starts.
Serbia Current Form and Key Players
Serbia’s form going into the tournament has been mixed at best. Although their final pre-tournament warm-up fixture ended in a 3-0 victory over Sweden, they’ve lost friendly fixtures to Austria and Belgium and were beaten home and away by Hungary in qualifying, raising questions over the ability of the squad.
The area where Serbia are strongest is in attack, where the all-time top scorer for the nation, Aleksandr Mitrovic, will partner Juventus’ prolific Dusan Vlahovic. These two are the players most likely to catch the eye for Orlovi as they’re likely to keep AC Milan’s Luka Jovic out of the team.
